George Maharis (originally Maharias) portrayed Buz Murdock in the first three seasons of the TV series Route 66, which earned him TV stardom and a major cult following . Maharis also recorded numerous pop music albums at the height of his fame. He held a starring role in the short lived The Most Deadly Game, and made guest appearances on Cannon, Mission: Impossible and Kojak to name a few
