Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian

Sono passati due anni e Larry Dailey ha lasciato il museo di Storia Naturale, dove lavorava come guardiano notturno, ed è entrato nel mondo degli affari diventando un importante imprenditore. Durante una visita al museo scopre che tutte le ricostruzioni, tranne alcune più popolari quali Teddy Roosevelt, Rexy lo scheletro del T-rex e la tavola d'oro del faraone Ahkmenrah, saranno sostituiti con degli ologrammi. In seguito Larry riceverà una allarmante richiesta di aiuto da parte di Jedediah il quale, insieme alle altre figure del vecchio museo, sta resistendo contro il fratello maggiore del faraone incontrato nel primo episodio che si è risvegliato, insieme a tutti i personaggi trasferiti e all'intero museo "più grande del mondo" grazie ad uno scherzo di una simpatica scimmietta cappuccina.

Quando os moradores do museu e amigos de Larry são embalados e levados para os arquivos do Instituto Smithsonian, a tábua egípcia mágica vai com eles. Disto resultarão problemas, pois no Smithsonian encontra-se o irmão cruel de Ahkmenrah, que quer usar a tábua para formar um exército de mortos-vivos.

Tym razem akcja toczy się w największym muzeum na świecie, słynnym Smithsonian, w którym podziwiać można 136 milionów eksponatów, a wśród nich: samolot, w którym Amelia Earhart przeleciała Atlantyk, pamiątki po Alu Capone i pantofelki Dorotki z filmowego "Czarnoksiężnika z krainy Oz".

Two years after the events of the first film, Larry Daley, former night guard at the American Museum of Natural History, now runs his own direct response television company that sells inventions based on his experiences. He travels to the museum, discovering most of the exhibits will be moved to the Federal Archives at the Smithsonian Institution and replaced with holographic information providers. The Tablet of Ahkmenrah is to remain in the museum, leaving most of the exhibits without the ability to come to life at night. After the exhibits are moved, Larry receives a phone call from Jedediah, who informs him that Dexter the monkey stole the tablet and took it to the Smithsonian, bringing every exhibit in it to life. Larry travels to Washington, DC, navigating his way to the archives with help from his son Nick while posing as a night guard.

Larry Daley, o ex-guarda noturno do Museu de História Natural, agora é um sucesso empresarial. Mas, logo depois de ficar sabendo que seus amigos do museu foram enviados para o Museu Smithsonian, Larry recebe um telefonema desesperado de Jedediah, avisando que quatro dos maiores vilões da história voltaram à vida e planejam tomar o Smithsonian, e depois o mundo.
