Notified that the great army of the Heike family left Kyoto, Yoritomo sends troops to the west immediately. Yoshitsune’s retainers get irritated to know that Yoshitsune is still excluded from the Genji’s army. Yoshitsune calms them down but he himself gets increasingly anxious. Yukiie visits Kisono Yoshinaka after leaving Kamakura and induces Yoshinaka to enter Kyoto before Yoritomo and declare himself as the head of the Genji family. Hearing of the rumor, Yoritomo heads to Kiso leading his army. Seeing Yoritomo’s mighty army, Yoshinaka hesitantly offers a settlement. Yoritomo demands Yoshinaka in return to entrust his eldest son Yoshitaka to him as the husband of his daughter. Yoritomo comes back to Kamakura taking Yoshitaka and commits an unexpected task to Yoshitsune, adopting Masako’s advice.
