We meet a rag tag team of guys, the Cut Up Crew (CUC), that demolish airplanes for a living. Tony, Mike, Sal, Huey, and Sammy are former felons; and Dave is a former cop. We learn about the business of airplane demolition, the equipment used, the boss - Pat, and the specialty destruction area - the Demo Pad. The Cut Up Crew begins destroying a former FedEx 727 airplane, and fits in a few pranks on one another along the way.
As employees from Avi Art are picking up a specialty wing cut from the 727, Tony sees a rival company stealing supplies from the Demo Pad. The owner of ARC Aerospace - Janet - shows up unexpectedly to the Pad with potential investors from China. The Cut Up Crew finishes demo of the 727 and loads the scrap aluminum in a container for the aluminum recycler.
A rare Lockheed L-1011 airplane makes its way on the Demo Pad and the Cut Up Crew preps it for destruction. It is Tony's birthday and the guys celebrate at the Pad with pranks, a Bobcat race, and an extra-large version of the arcade crane game with their excavators. The CUC goes to a local bar to celebrate Tony's birthday with friends and family.
A buyer orders two airplane cockpit yokes but the message doesn't get to Mike in time - the yokes get destroyed. The Cut Up Crew tears down the overhead bins and pulls out insulation in the L-1011. Mike takes a break from work to meet his pregnant wife for an ultrasound and hopes that his new child will be a boy. Huey and Mike sneak over to the 767 and look for "piñatas" - left behind valuables - before the rest of the guys can get a chance.
The CUC works to replace the hydraulic ram arm on one of the excavators. A priority order for the landing gear off a Boeing 767 forces the guys to stop demolition on the L-1011. Sal opens up about his checkered past and his new outlook on life working at the Demo Pad.
The Cut Up Crew removes the landing gear from the 767 with the help from Alonso - a PART mechanic. Pat surprises the CUC with a game of bowling - inside a plane. Dave coaches high school football after leaving work at the Demo Pad.
A large DC-10 cargo plane is brought onto the Demo Pad and Tony must cut its wings off to make room for the CUC to demo the plane. It's a day of repairs and maintenance as Dave and Tony change the oil in Pat's truck and Huey repairs his Bobcat. The 767 gets a few precision cuts from Mike and cleaned out by the rest of the Cut Up Crew.
Two baby pigeons are saved before the 767 gets torn apart and sorted by the Cut Up Crew. Sammy uses his expert welding skills to repair the grapple bucket on the Freak. Sammy opens up about his past and spends time with his family at his son's karate practice.
Aluminum from the 767 is loaded and hauled off by the recycler. The last remains of the 767 are being torn apart when a fire erupts, forcing the CUC to take quick action. Sammy takes some spare time to help Huey with a low rider bicycle he is building for his son. The Cut Up Crew gets put through a workout at a local gym, where Huey reveals he is diabetic.
Huey and Sal remove doors from the DC-10 to get some light inside the cargo plane. Tony and Mike bicker about cleaning out all the trash in the DC-10. Dave replaces the brushes on the Bobcat. Mike and his wife finally find out the sex of their baby.
An aviation enthusiast comes to the Demo Pad to look for pieces for his 1970s PanAm experience business. The DC-10 is cleaned out and the L-1011 is brought back on - then off the Pad, once again preventing the Cut Up Crew from destroying the L-1011. Pat takes the CUC out to lunch at a local lounge.
An Airbus A320 is brought onto the Pad and the Cut Up Crew searches for piñatas. Another load of aluminum is hauled away before the DC-10 tail is cut off and dropped to the ground in dramatic fashion. The ARC Aerospace CEO gets an impromptu bachelor party from the CUC at a local biker bar - complete with a dirty surprise.
The DC-10 fuselage gets dropped to the ground and taken apart by the Cut Up Crew. Tony gets a call that the emergency beacon on the A320 has been activated and Sal must find it and remove it. The CUC celebrates the end of the summer with a company BBQ using a barbecue grill Sammy welded from spare airplane parts.
