With Ninoy behind bars, Cory became the father and mother of their five kids and at the same time became the source of inspiration and strength to her husband who experienced solitary confinement in Fort Bonifacio and Fort Magsaysay. After seven years and seven months, Ninoy was given a chance at new life, with his family in Boston. But after three years, Ninoy went back to the Philippines to pursue his dream of Philippine freedom while Cory and their children agreed to follow Ninoy after two weeks. But on August 21, 1983, a few minutes after his arrival, Ninoy was assassinated. Cory was devastated when she heard the news, but remained strong for their children. Along with millions of Filipinos, Cory mourned for the lost of Ninoy that led to People Power and Cory's rise to presidency.
