In Germany, Hitler, in his New Year's address to the German people, reasserts his will to keep fighting: “No matter how long the war may last, it's better to continue in it than to condemn our homeland to the humiliation of defeat, he says. In Plaszow, a suburb of Cracow (Poland), the Germans set up a new concentration camp.
