一個雄辯滔滔的橋王狀師，最難的不是為案情辯駁，而是向上天自辯扭轉宿命。因為一個家族詛咒令出身狀王世家的陳夢吉（陳小春）終日游手好閒，被逼埋沒才華將精力投放在妓院生意上。一次無心之失被告上公堂，認識了鐵咀女狀師納蘭青青（佘詩曼）和嫉「官」如仇的方唐鏡（謝天華）。吉因而無辜受罰，對二人懷恨在心。 口齒伶俐的青為朝廷立功不單被乾隆御賜狀師袍，還被逼接受一段盲婚啞嫁，早已對鏡芳心暗許的青，為了不違聖旨，只好被逼與吉成親，鏡因感情失落終日流連妓院，後更惹禍上身被控謀殺，青試圖營救無效，吉挺身而出救回鏡一命。此事不單令青對吉改觀，更令「陳家詛咒」再次喚醒吉不應再入公堂訟案，最後吉受賊人所害，青惟有代夫上場，誰料詛咒逆轉到吉身上…
