Inspireret af en livslang fascination af Afrika og 1800-tallets store opdagelsesrejsende beslutter den britiske fotograf og eventyrer, Lev Wood, at vandre langs Nilen fra dens udspring i Rwanda til Middelhavet, en tur på 6.700 km. Efter syv måneders vandring ankommer Lev omsider til Ægypten, men han har stadig 1.400 kilometer tilbage. Ydermere har myndighederne kun givet ham et 45 dages visum, så pludselig har han og hans nye fikser, Mahmoud Ezzledin, travlt!
After seven months of hiking, Levison Wood reaches his final country - Egypt - and with 900 miles still to go to reach the Mediterranean, the authorities give him just 45 days to finish. After walking the barren shores of Lake Nasser and exploring deserted temples, Lev reaches Aswan and spends a night at a historic hotel. Moving on, he discovers more of Egypt's wonders, from magnificent buildings in the ancient city of Luxor, to the Pyramids of Giza, where he's given a hero's reception. The journey then takes him through strongholds for the Muslim Brotherhood opposition group, and as the security situation deteriorates he finds himself accompanied by police vans and armed officers.
Après 271 jours d'aventures et une dernière marche à travers le delta du Nil, Levison arrive en Egypte, le dernier pays sur sa route vers la Méditerranée. Sur la route de Louxor, il doit traverser une zone contrôlée par les Frères Musulmans. Au Caire, il est accueilli en grande pompe, pour célébrer l'aboutissement de son projet. Enfin, il arrive au port de Rosette, sa dernière destination.
In Ägypten wandert der Abenteurer Levison (Lev) Wood durch Gebiete, die in der Hand der Muslimischen Brüderschaft sind. In Episode 4 hat Wood bereits sieben Monate des Fußmarsches hinter sich gebracht und ist nun an der Grenze zum sechsten und letzten Land, das er bei seinem Nil-Abenteuer zu durchqueren hat: Ägypten. Er hat knapp 1500 Kilometer vor sich, um das Mittelmeer zu erreichen. Die ägyptischen Behörden verlangen jedoch, dass Wood diesen Fußmarsch von mehr als eineinhalb tausend Kilometern in nur 45 Tages bewältigen muss. Sollte er diesen Zeitplan nicht einhalten, könnten die Behörden ihm die Erlaubnis entziehen, seine Reise fortzusetzen.
