敘述麻醉科醫師蕭政勳，在一次由院長陳顯榮主持的示範刀中執行麻醉，結果病患併發罕見的惡性高熱，雖及時投藥仍搶救無效。術後檢討指向有長期失眠的蕭政勳，院方勒令他停職接受調查。處理手術理賠的保險員葉建徳發現客戶死因不單純，於是與蕭聯手暗訪，要揪出麻醉意外的真兇。因為這場手術，蕭政勳和國中同學宋邵瑩重逢，勾起了蕭政勳年少時期的創傷，不得不求助心理治療，精神科醫生楊惟愉透過催眠幫助蕭政勳正視潛意識裡一直逃避的陰影。面對醫院體制和自身傷痛的雙重痲痹，他要選擇奮力保持良知的清醒？或是忘卻病痛，一起集體麻醉？
