久保田誠は出雲グループの青年団長として、ヤクザの抗争、麻雀、暗殺などで楽しく過ごしていた。ある日、彼はワイルドアダプターと呼ばれる奇妙な薬に偶然出くわし、死を含む奇妙な副作用を引き起こす。永遠に変わってしまった久保田は、時任実という放浪者と絡み合い、2人は思いがけない友情を築き、ワイルドアダプターの謎に深く引き込まれていく。
