The series takes place in a world destroyed by a devastating earthquake in which the remnants of humanity are divided between the strong and the weak. Violence Jack is uncovered amongst the rubble and demolished granite by the inhabitants of this city, asking him to help the weak people and helping them destroy what, in most cases, are the strong groups commanded by killers and rapists (this is the story line of Violence Jack: Evil Town). In the three OVAs, Jack is requested to help different groups, such as the Zone A, (later he ends up helping Zone C women) or a small town, as shown in "Hell's Wind". As for the manga, the stories change drastically, being the first story the help of Violence Jack to a group of female models in a tropical forest in Kanto. Even though Jack contains the figure of a ruthless, evil character, he always helps the weak section of people, in trade for nothing.
Après qu'un cataclysme ait dévasté la terre et réduit Tokyo à néant, de rares rescapés tentent de survivre dans les profondeurs de la ville. Dans ce monde souterrain, une seule règle existe : tuer ou se faire tuer. Dans ce contexte, trois groupes se sont formés avec des aspirations différentes. La section A regroupe des notables corrompus, la section B dirigée par Mad Saulus regroupe la pire racaille des bas-fonds et enfin la section C, constituée exclusivement de femmes, est l'objet de toutes les convoitises.
La serie è collegata all'omonimo manga di Go Nagai; nel manga un immane terremoto distrugge completamente la zona del Kanto (zona nella quale sorge Tokyo) e la isola dal resto del Giappone. In questo nuovo scenario post-apocalittico si muove Violence Jack un essere misterioso e dotato di una forza immensa e di stani poteri; Jack usa la sua ferocia e violenza per uccidere gli esseri umani che anno venduto la loro umanità divenendo peggio delle bestie. Gli OAV sono estremamente crudi e violenti e come nel manga la figura di Jack è quella di un essere spaventoso ma con un fondamento di giustizia alla base delle sue azioni.

Они знают лишь, что существует гигант трехметрового роста, истребляющий бандитов. Этого монстра прозвали «Жестоким Джеком»...
