This year’s tornado season was one of the least active in almost 70 years. But don’t get your hopes up. This isn’t a part of a larger, descending trend. In fact, it’s almost impossible to detect any sort of tornado trend since we can barely forecast them. It feels only natural to blame tornado activity on climate change — but it’s not that easy. Unlike other extreme weather events like hurricanes and droughts, scientists don’t know how exactly climate change might impact tornadoes.
