Peter Sutcliffe is a British serial killer who murdered 13 women from 1975-1981. He attempted to murder 7 others but in some cases was interrupted by bystanders or police and ran away. There was a long search for the "Yorkshire Ripper" including a man who confessed to the crimes and led the police on a wild goose chase that cost more lives while they focused on the wrong man. Sutcliffe is still alive and well in Broadmoor High Security Hospital.
