Set in a large comprehensive school in the fictional Scottish town of Strathaird, this series revolves around the daily life of schoolmaster Ian Craig - a scientist who teaches physics and believes in education in the widest sense of the word. As one of six Housemasters at the school he has to keep an eye on the problems of 300 pupils. Craig is married to Margaret and they have one son, James, who is a pupil at the school. The Headmaster is Mr. Robertson, Willie Sinclair is the school janitor and Katie Duncan the Art Mistress.
