Auf der Flucht vor Neros Soldaten kommt Cyrus sein akrobatisches Geschick zugute. Er führt seine Verfolger an der Nase herum und belustigt dabei auch einen von Roms einflussreichsten Händlern. Als Cyrus schließlich doch überwältigt wird, kommt ihm der Händler zu Hilfe. Er kauft ihn frei. Allerdings nicht ganz uneigennützig. Er ist bekannt für seine besondere Härte gegenüber seinen Sklaven, und mit Cyrus hat er ganz große Pläne. Während Ben und die Kinder nach Cyrus suchen, erzählt Helena die Geschichte vom verlorenen Sohn.
Cyrus is captured by a patrol while showing off his acrobatic skills, only to be sold to a local merchant who is impressed by Cyrus' talent. Cyrus finds himself living the good life, and when Ben & co. try to rescue him, he refuses to go back to the bakery. Helena tells the children Jesus' parable of the Prodigal Son and encourages them to pray for Cyrus.
