Today On The Skid Factory We're checking out Shayne's Peter Brock VL Calais Sport by HDT and talk about the history of the car and the controversy surrounding the Energy Polarizer. The Holden Dealer Team (HDT) was a racing team in Australia that competed in touring car racing during the 1970s and 1980s. In the mid 80s, HDT became embroiled in controversy over a device called the "Energy Polarizer," which was claimed to improve the performance of HDT cars by aligning and “Polarizing” molecules. There was no scientific evidence to support these claims and executives at Holden rejected it as a legitimate performance product. Holden soon after severed ties with HDT. Brocks legacy is a decade of tuned Commodores that are now valuable collector Cars and Shayne’s VL Calais is a prime example.
