Dr. Craig, Sharon Ellis und Steve installieren gerade Erdbeben-Sensoren am Meeresgrund, als sie erfahren, dass das benachbarte Santa Ventura alle diplomatischen Beziehungen zu den USA abgebrochen hat. While Steve is helping a science team place earthquake sensors on the ocean floor, their boat is notified that neighboring Santa Ventura has broken off diplomatic relations with the US. Before their boat can leave the area they are captured by a patrol boat.
