This is Alyssa McKay, star of The Royals of Malibu. We’re in the studio now making this steamy podcast and I’m incredibly excited for all of you to hear it. In the meantime, follow The Royals of Malibu so you can be one of the first to listen when the show launches on February 6, 2023.
When Ella Sinclair (Alyssa McKay) is swept away from a life of sex work and overdue bills to the privilege and glamor of ultra-wealthy Malibu, the last thing she expected was to fall in love.
After her mother dies, Ella is working as a cam girl in Fresno to keep a roof over her head. But then her fairy godfather appears: real estate tycoon and (apparently) her late father’s BFF, Callum Royal, who plucks Ella out of poverty and invites her to live in his Malibu mansion with his two teenage sons: two *hot* sons that turn out to be less-than-welcoming. Will Ella be able to stick it out in Malibu, or will these rich kids destroy her? Let’s find out...
The nightmare may just be beginning. Ella starts school at The Cove Academy and quickly feels like she’s sprung a trap. Let’s just say the school’s queen bee, Savannah, definitely packs a lethal sting. But that’s OK, because Ella has her fine-ass Royal step-brothers to protect her from these plastic mean girls, right? Wrong. In fact, The Royals may be her worst enemies. Will Ella be able to survive her first year in Malibu, or will she crumble like it seems everyone wants her to? I thought this was supposed to be a romance podcast. It feels more like a horror story.
Can a shopping spree solve all your problems? Callum’s girlfriend Brooke thinks so. I mean, who doesn’t love a glow-up? To help her fit in with the town awash in Chanel and Louboutins in a way only the wealthy can, Brooke takes Ella on a Rodeo Drive shopping trip that would make Gigi Hadid jealous. But when Ella makes her big debut at her first Cove high school party later that night, she starts to figure out what’s really going on in Malibu with these teens dripping in privilege. When Savannah lashes out, Ella isn’t afraid to fight back. Bright side: she finally meets her first real friend
Does it count as a Walk of Shame if nothing happened? Because Reed dropping Ella on the side of the road after the party was just that. Harsh. In better news: Ella and Easton are starting to bond. Should we wonder if maybe they’re getting a little too tight? Also, Savannah is now pointing her laser beams directly at Ella in an attempt to destroy the new girl. So Ella decides to focus on what she does best: working, by getting a job at the local coffee shop. Because there’s nothing a latte can’t fix, right? Well, we’ll see about that...
Ella and Savannah are about ready to kill each other. I assumed Ella could throw hands but it really is something else to experience it. Reed Royal, of all people, came to the rescue. It's a little dashing, not gonna lie. And if you thought Ella's day couldn't get any worse. Ella is presented with the chance to start over—again. Don't worry, she'll still be living in luxury. Remember ladies, always trade up. But something about the Royals keeps her reeled in. And it's not just Dinah's creepy mid-day pajamas. Yeah, something tells me Ella plans on sticking around the Royals. Unless this love triangle blows up and Ella gets voted off the island. Why have one Prince Charming when you could have two?
After her makeout sesh with Easton and pool fight with Savannah, Ella decides that a night out with Valerie is a great way to distract herself. But the drama jacks up the next day on the Royals’ yacht when Reed asks Ella to meet him down below. Alone. Sounds hot. Well hold on to your lifejackets, because things are about to get rough.
Ella’s had it with Reed’s sus behavior. She decides that it’s finally time to figure where he’s been heading off to at night. Good idea? I'm not so sure. But the real tea is that Ella doesn’t need Reed anyway—she’s caught the eye of a new guy. And he's coming on strong.
If Reed can flirt with other people, Ella sure as hell can too. But is “nice-guy” David really as nice as he seems? Reed, Savannah...David. People at the Cove seem to have this way of surprising you…
After what happened at the party, Ella is surprised to find an unlikely ally in none other than Savannah. Lemme just say, I'm a stan for these new frenemies. They know better than anyone how to take action—and that revenge is a dish best served publicly.
After Ella’s big W against David she can get back to focusing on her relationship with Reed, right? Ella is finally in her main character era. That is, until Easton’s *erratic* behavior disrupts the peace and exposes some serious Royal family secrets along the way. It’ll take a lot of finessing to get out of this mess. Ella can handle just about anything, but can she handle this Royal family drama?
Dare I say that Ella and Reed are approaching power couple territory? Meanwhile, Callum and Brooke’s relationship seems to be hitting its limits. In many ways life seems better than ever for Ella, but she can't help but feel that danger is lurking around a corner...
I knew it was too good to be true. A super fun night at the club takes an L when both Reed and Easton find themselves in their own kinds of trouble. The next day Ella's late father's will is finally read. And let’s just say the results are high-key shocking.
For Ella, Malibu is finally feeling like home. She’s in a great relationship, has a best friend, a real family, and lest we forget: she's set to inherit millions. That is, until the most shocking betrayal destroys everything.
Grab a pistachio latte or a green juice and get ready for this special episode where we discuss some Royals tea with the cast. In Part 1, we're joined by Alyssa McKay (Ella), Franchesca Agramonte (Valerie), and Stephanie Sherry (Lucy/Margaret). The cast answers some questions fans submitted, they play some games, and announce some very big news that you won’t want to miss.
Let's be real, that season finale was shocking, to say the least. Lucky us, because we have Reed, Easton, and Ella here to discuss that jaw-dropping finale and much much more. We're joined by actors Alyssa McKay (Ella), Nick Cafero (Easton), and Chris Cafero (Reed). And don't surf too far away because The Royals of Malibu returns with Season 2 very soon.
It's so crazy that I live here now. Right next to the ocean.
After Ella (Alyssa McKay) witnessed a shocking betrayal by Reed Royal, she fled her privileged new life in Malibu and headed to San Francisco to live her life how she knows best: under her own terms. Two months later, she has settled into her new life and even found herself in a new romance. But she can't quite forget her life in Malibu and the friends she left behind. And The Royals aren't ready to let go of her either.
After Reed's shocking betrayal, Ella finds herself working as a bikini barista in San Francisco. She has found her independence again, and even a new romance (you go, girl). That is until a strange car begins following her every move and Valerie sends a cry for help on social media.
Who doesn't love a girls' weekend? Ella, Savannah, and Val spend the weekend together as Val recovers from her breakup with Tam. That is until an uninvited visitor decides to break in...
After Ella's "adventure up north", she's back at The Cove Academy just in time for spirit day (Go Stingrays!). Meanwhile, Reed continues to deny sleeping with Brooke, but evidence continues to suggest otherwise.
Mama-Bear Brooke is in fuuuuuull swing, but Ella is determined to get some answers from her. Handling a psycho psuedo-stepmom and catching up with nearly 2-months of school work all at the same time? I could never. It's no wonder that after spending the day in full-on study mode, Ella, Easton, Savannah, and Val decide to reward themselves with a night out.
As Ella studies away for her exams, she overhears a weird conversation between Brooke and Dinah. What the hell are these b*tches up to? Later, at the state water polo championship, Val decides to have one-too-many drinks and spills one of Ella's biggest secrets: her kiss with Easton before she left Malibu. Let's just say, Savannah finds zero zen from this news.
We know you have questions. Lots of them. Well the time has finally come to hear Reed's POV of that fateful birthday. Hold on, this episode might be the wildest ride of the season.
They're back baby. Reed and Ella are back together and Reed is eager to make up for lost times, so he does what any man would do: takes Ella on a Christian Grey-level date. It's a perfect day until, well, an unexpected guest shows up.
Before Ella can even begin to process what to do about Isaac and Reed, she must get through her exams. (Never let boys get in the way of your studies ladies and gents!). Unfortunately, Savannah has still not forgiven Ella for that kiss with Easton and makes her exam day extra challenging. Later, Isaac gives Ella a visit to convince her to give him another shot. Maybe she should, especially after yet another hurdle gets in the way of her and Reed.
Ella, Reed, Easton, and Val are in full Spykids mode as they scheme to trace down the original video. Meanwhile, Ella finally gets her exam results and Reed fishes for more info from Ella on her relationship with Isaac.
Isaac takes Ella out on a date to a new side of LA that she has never experienced before. Reed struggles to handle the "throuple" situation. However, he's not the only one struggling with their SO. Tam and Val decide to try again, while Sav discovers who is the only thing on the planet that could possibly break her: Easton.
Ella goes on another great date with Isaac only further confusing her thoughts on her relationship with Reed. (As Val would say, girl, pick a man... But in Ella’s defense, it’s a tough choice…). Brooke forces the Royals to participate in a family photo shoot even though she tells Ella that she plans to leak the video. If that’s not enough, Reed and Ella start to notice Easton’s concerning change in behavior.
The Brooke ticking time bomb is about to explode, and it'd going to be nuclear. The whole gang (Isaac included) gets together for Brooke's brand launch party, but let's just say it's anything but festive...
It's the season finale and this might be the most dramatic episode to date. Brooke is going off the rails, Callum is heartbroken, Savannah is distraught, Easton is keeping it together, and Reed and Isaac are awaiting Ella's decision. Will the answers you've been waiting for be given tonight? Yes. Will you be shocked? Let's just say... it's a killer ending.
Who wants some Season 2 tea? The team's in the recording studio for this special behind-the-scenes episode with exclusive interviews (and SPOILERS) as they create Season 2 of The Royals of Malibu. Includes actors Alyssa McKay (Ella), Nick Cafero (Easton), Chris Cafero (Reed), Armen Taylor (Callum), Stephanie Sherry (Lucy), and Edgar de Santiago (Isaac...who?!!), as well as Diversion producer Emma DeMuth, director Matt Sav, and co-writer Keyanna Khatiblou.
After Brooke’s mysterious death, Ella wastes no time trying to find answers in order to protect the ones she loves. On top of it all, a shocking character returns to Malibu determined to keep her and Reed apart. Season 3 has entered the chat... see you on ***April 7th! ***
In the days after Brooke’s mysterious death, Malibu is swirling with rumors. Ella doesn’t know who or what to believe. On top of it all, an unexpected visitor arrives at The Royal’s front door.
After Steve’s unexpected reappearance, Ella takes a beach day with Valerie to clear her head. Malibu may continue to bring new faces, but the heat stays the same.
Ella’s mind continues to circle as a new reality sets in, and her hopes rest on uncovering the secrets behind Brooke’s death. Dinah sees Steve for the first time in a year, and Ella and Easton attend Brooke’s funeral in pursuit of clues, disregarding Callum and Reed’s pleas to stay away.
Reed is frustrated with Ella for launching her own investigation into Brooke’s death As the ripple effects of Reed’s arrest break into his personal life, though, it’s clear he can’t ignore what’s happened. Ella visits Lucy for advice on Steve and Reed.
Ella heads down the PCH for lunch with Steve and Dinah, intent on finding the missing link behind Brooke’s death. But, to her surprise, she’s met with a more vulnerable version of Steve and Dinah. However, things take a turn when Steve learns of Reed and Ella’s relationship.
Ella devises a new way to see more of Reed, and needs Savannah’s help to do so. Easton formally confesses his admiration to Nova, and Val admits she’s been hiding something.
Valerie and Nova’s story is finally told, but newfound intimacy is delicate, and that vulnerability causes questions. Ella’s snooping finally reaps rewards, but the answers she finds only lead to more questions.
When the crew flies out of town for the school’s swim competition, the reality of their day-to-day life is plain for all to see. While their successes lead to celebration, the looming questions surrounding Reed’s case are no match for forced proximity.
A look inside Reed’s head shows the cracks have already formed as his case progresses and the DA has him in his sights. But when he learns new information about his plea deal and the implications of not taking it, he’s forced to consider what a trial would mean for those around him.
In our season finale, all the pieces fall into place. Ella untangles the half-truths and attends prom in the process.
