Eugene lässt sich im Sorgerechtsstreit um seinen Sohn Kendall von Bobby und Ellenor vertreten, während Sharon den knallharten Anwalt Tagger verpflichtet hat. Bobby und Tagger tun ihr Bestes, doch der Richter entscheidet, dass das Sorgerecht nicht zugunsten von Sharon geändert wird. Vielmehr bittet er beide Elternteile, sich gemeinsam um Kendall zu kümmern. Währenddessen übernimmt Helen einen Vergewaltigungsfall, bei dem ihr das Opfer eher unglaubwürdig erscheint ...

Eugene battles his ex-wife Sharon for custody of Kendall. Sharon claims Eugene's profession and questionable tactics are sending the wrong message to their son. Helen prosecutes a young man for stealing a girl's car, but begins to doubt the alleged victim's story when the accused makes a very credible witness. The witness claims she was car-jacked. The accused adamantly maintains that the girl loaned him the car. Rebecca represents a psychologist fired from his job after suffering a head trauma that left him cross-eyed.

Eugene viene citato dalla ex-moglie Sharon, la quale vuole ottenere la custodia del figlio Kendall, sottraendo di fatto il giovane dalla nefasta influenza del padre, ma soprattutto dalla materia del lavoro di Eugene, la quale invia messaggi negativi al ragazzo. Helen persegue un uomo per il furto di una macchina, ma è preoccupata da alcuni dubbi sulla dichiarazione dell'unica testimone. Rebecca rappresenta uno psicologo licenziato a causa del suo strabismo.
