Texas Reopens, Sen. Warren’s Wealth Tax & Gov. Cuomo Accusations

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Bernie Sanders and other Democrats proposed the Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act, which would tax the wealthy to reduce the widening U.S. wealth gap which has been exacerbated by the pandemic. The bill is likely to face significant obstacles in the Senate. Ylan Mui reports. Yesterday CDC director Rochelle Walensky said now is not the time to ease restrictions. Yet, the Texas governor today announced he plans to reopen all businesses starting next week, and declared the state will no longer enforce a mandatory mask mandate. CNBC’s Meg Tirrell reports. The pressure is building on New York Governor Andrew Cuomo after a third woman accused him of sexual harassment. New York Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul issued a statement saying people deserve to have their voices heard and taken seriously. Contessa Brewer reports.
