Maxwell sucht dringend einen Nachmieter für das Broadway Theater, das er bereits gebucht hatte, auf Grund einer gefloppten Produktion jetzt aber nicht mehr benötigt. Als C.C. ihm jedoch erzählt, dass sein größter Konkurrent, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Interesse bekundet hat, schaltet Maxwell auf stur. Er will auf Biegen und Brechen ein neues Musical produzieren, das er statt seines letzten Flops dort aufführen könnte. Als Yettas Liebesbriefe an ihre Jugendliebe Richard auftauchen, hat Fran die geniale Idee, daraus ein Musical zu machen. Maxwell hat zunächst kein Interesse, bis die Briefe zufällig bei Andrew Lloyd Webber landen, der derselben Meinung ist wie Fran. Während Webber Yetta nach Paris einlädt, um ihr die Rechte an dem Stoff abzuschwatzen, erfahren Fran und Maxwell, dass Sylvia schon seit Jahren die gerichtliche Vollmacht über Yettas Belange besitzt. Maxwell bleibt nichts anderes übrig, als Sylvia auch nach Paris einzuladen. Maxwells Musical „Yettas Lettas“ wird ein Riesenerfolg, doch leider wartet Maxwell bis zum nächsten Tag, um mit Sylvia über die Filmrechte zu verhandeln, während die bereits mit Steven Spielberg in Paris sitzt...
While still shocked about finding out Niles and C.C.'s secret affair, Fran and Maxwell worry about something else: it seems like Max's biggest chance to beat Andrew Lloyd Weber at the Tonys is going to be wasted, since he can't get a decent play script and thus won't open any new shows. Fran shows him Yetta's old love letters she wrote to a waiter she met on the ship that brought her from Romania, but Maxwell doesn't think those will make a good play. The letters get accidentally sent to Andrew Lloyd Weber's office and he tries to buy the play rights for Yetta's letters, but Maxwell steps in – thanks to Sylvia's power of attorney – and opens one of the most exciting plays of the season!
