Produção inspirada em história real, que retrata o trabalho escravo infantil durante o período da Revolução Industrial. Escrita por Darlow Smithson, a minissérie tem quatro episódios que narram a história de Quarry Bank Mill, uma fábrica de algodão da cidade de Cheshire, em 1833. Com base em documentos históricos, a minissérie tem início quando noventa crianças, filhos de imigrantes ou de moradores da região, são levadas para trabalhar nas máquinas de fiar de Quarry Bank Mill. Para a comunidade, a fábrica é vista como uma oportunidade para as crianças aprenderem um ofício.
