After separating from his wife, all Leo wants now is to live a quiet life. But he has become involved with Liz, a 24 year old, and she has somehow squatted in his life and is not about to settle down.
When Liz organises a party to take her mind off her insecurities with their relationship, Leo is concerned that he will be too old for the revellers and so takes himself off to this old home.
Leo finds that he has only a limited amount of sympathy for Liz when she announces that she has left home - the best thing, he finds, is to do nothing!
A new dimension is added to Leo's life when his two daughters bring their problems to him. Liz, feeling a little put out, decides to find a new companion.
Life becomes even more difficult for Leo when Alice decides she can't cope with their separation. Liz decides that she can't cope with his divided loyalties and so makes plans to leave.
Liz is starting to make marriage plans as Leo's decree absolute becomes ever nearer but a letter from Alice causes some revaluation.
