Mogli hat sich nach einem Streit mit Pagira dazu entschlossen den Dschungel endgültig zu verlassen. Seine Wolfsmutter Luri, Balou und Pagira sind sehr in Sorge um ihn und sie beauftragen den Greifvogel Chil unbemerkt dem Jungen zu folgen und auf ihn aufzupassen.
Convinced that his presence in the pack is causing nothing but problems, Mowgli decides to leave. Bagheera and Luri try to talk him out of it, but nothing they can convince him to stay. At this point Baloo and Bagheera compare notes and go to Chil for help. The eagle agrees to watch over Mowgli and immediately sets out to locate and meet him.
Convaincu que sa présence dans la meute ne provoque que des problèmes, Mowgli décide de partir. Bagheera et Luri essaient de l'en dissuader, mais rien ne peut le convaincre de rester. À ce stade, Baloo et Bagheera comparent les notes et vont à Chil pour obtenir de l'aide. L'aigle accepte de surveiller Mowgli et part immédiatement pour le localiser et le rencontrer.
Convinto che la sua presenza nel branco sia esclusivamente fonte di guai, Mowgli decide di andarsene. Invano discute con Bagheera e Luri e niente di quel che gli dicono riesce a dissuaderlo. Baloo a questo punto, su consiglio di Bagheera, chiede aiuto a Chill. L'aquila accetta l'incarico di vigilare su Mowgli e si mette subito in viaggio.
