The History Man

Malcolm Bradbury's satirical novel of 1970's greybrick campus life adapted by Oscar-winning screenwriter Christopher Hampton stars a moustachioed Antony Sher as Howard Kirk, a Marxist sociologist, womaniser and bully. In 1972, an ambitious Sociology lecturer stirs up revolutionary feelings at the University of Watermouth, manipulating students, colleagues and lovers to further his career.
