Dairy farmer Paula Hynes from Cork leaves her state of the art farm behind for the drought stricken plains of southern Kenya, to spend time living alongside a remote Maasai tribe, to witness the struggles they face daily as they attempt to keep their animals and the community alive in such challenging conditions.
In the final episode, forester Jamie Hawan, who works for the State forestry company, Coillte, travels to Uganda to harvest timber alongside villagers in a steep rainforest, using just an axe and a machete, and help villagers tracks down illegal loggers in the middle of the night.
