Profile of Abraham Lincoln who, following the death of his first wife, channelled all his energies into pursuing a career in politics and was eventually elected American president in 1860. His greatest achievement during his time in office was setting in motion the abolition of slavery, but unfortunately he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth before he got to see the fruits of his efforts.
