Tyrant Jack Brass lives in a shack out in the bush where he poaches furs illegally. Joe and the kids track him on a dog sled. When Jack and his friend catch Joe, they plan to beat him up and put him through a hole in the ice of the river where he will flow out in the springtime. A fight ensues with the hole in the background, but Chub and Sgt. Scott come and save Joe's hide just in time.
