The brother and sister are completely different in looks and personality, but both need a forever home. Meanwhile, the staff bring together 82-year-old Alan and lhasa apso Ruby, both of whom are looking for comfort after losing a loved one.

Small terrier Midnight is also looking for a forever home, although when he is introduced to a couple dealing with the pain of not being able to have children, he only has eyes for one of them.

Will he find that with Janet from Sheffield, who wants a well-behaved dog to keep her company after the death of her husband?

Toy poodle Gizmo tries to overcome his social anxieties to win the hearts of Fiona and Maisie, a mother and daughter coming to terms with their future separation, and a lurcher with a broken tail requires lots of care - and with any luck, a forever home.
