Theo bringt ein katastrophales Zeugnis nach Hause. Selbstbewusst erklärt er seinem Vater, dass er keinen Wert auf eine akademische Karriere lege. Denise nervt inzwischen mit ihren Ausgehwünschen. Vanessa und Rudy können wegen eines Werwolfs nicht ruhig schlafen.
Clair is furious when Theo brings home a report card with 4 D's. He tells Cliff that he has no intention of going to college, as he feels that he is destined to be a "regular person." Cliff uses Monopoly money to teach him about the economic realities that many blue-collar workers must face. He assures Theo that he only wants him to try his best. Cliff is alarmed to meet Denise's latest beau, a former merchant marine who once spent time in a Turkish prison.
Cliff et Claire sont furieux quand Théo revient de l'école avec 4 "D" sur son carnet de note. Théo dit alors à ses parents qu'il n'a nullement l'intention de continuer ses études et de rentrer en fac. Le couple est également inquiet de la relation qu'entretient Denise, leur grande fille, avec un jeune homme au passé "douteux"...
Theo, l'unico figlio maschio di casa Robinson, porta a casa la pagella e la mostra a sua madre Clair: sul documento scolastico ci sono ben quattro insufficienze. Quando il ragazzo, in piena tranquillità, comunica ai genitori l'intenzione di "rinunciare" al college, perché crede che il suo destino sia nel mondo del lavoro, Cliff, servendosi dei soldi finti del Monopoli, gli dà una bella "lezione" di economia e ... di vita. Intanto Denise vuole presentare in famiglia il suo nuovo fidanzato, un ex marinaio.
