Something magical happened at the chateau this week. We had mass in the chapel! We bought Lalande from the family of the Marquis of Nadaillac, who had been living here for 200 years. They were a deeply religious family, who built the Chapel of Saint Joseph in the garden. Two of the eleven children of the last marquis became priests. One of them, now in his 80s, came back to visit us and gave mass in the chapel. I felt very moved to attend mass given by someone who'd spent his childhood here and whose family built our chapel. Along with our usual fun of cooking and hosting - and seeing the return of Mummy, Percy and Scotman, it was a very special week! Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ This weekly vlog follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France
