The Long, Long Day

At a party in his house gangster Mario Navini kills Pia Vallachio and,helped by his younger brother Bruno,disposes of her body in a quarry. They are observed by sole witness Maria Pullerno,who flees in terror. The Italian Minister of Justice,Vittorio Guardi, asks Mannering to obtain a witness statement from her,as a result of which the Baron and Maria end up besieged by the Navinis in the police station in the village of Santa Montena.

Lors d'une fête à son domicile, le gangster Mario Navini tue Pia Vallachio et, aidé de son frère cadet Bruno, se débarrasse de son corps dans une carrière. Ils sont observés par le seul témoin Maria Pullerno, qui s'enfuit terrorisée. Le ministre italien de la Justice, Vittorio Guardi, demande à Mannering d'obtenir un témoignage de sa part, à la suite duquel le baron et Maria se retrouvent assiégés par les Navinis au poste de police du village de Santa Montena.
