Jamie gathers the teams to reveal this week’s challenge - The Kid’s Room! To the shock and potential horror of the contestants, they find out that this week they will not just be designing for themselves, but for a seriously judgmental and brutally honest group of clients, children under the age of 14! The teams will be judged not just on their designs, but how their designs will translate 5 years from now for their respective clients.
It’s a brand new week and the teams are tired but by no means beaten. Jamie reveals this week’s challenge, his personal favourite area to design - The Great Outdoors. As the returning team step forward, their is a collective intake of breath from the contestants, and they leave for shopping feeling very uncertain of their place in the competition. Jamie reveals this week’s challenge before they go - The bathroom challenge. The teams must as always, design their bathrooms without compromising the ever present ‘Glam’ factor, or face the wrath of Judge Laurence.
The 5 remaining teams meet Jamie for the announcement of their next challenge - The Guest Room, incorporating Fashion into their designs to be completed within 12 hours. Jamie really works the teams into a frenzy, telling them that 6 hours in the challenge, everyone will lose their team member and have to work with one of their competitors! Execution is key in this challenge.
Jamie meets with the teams to deliver their final challenge, that will guarantee them a place in the finale, or end their dreams to become an instant home owner. The second week of the competition kicks off with a rapid challenge that rattles the contestants! They will only have twelve hours to complete one of the most visited rooms in a house, the bathroom. Glamour is the name of the game for the third week’s challenge, as contestants get ready to design an entertainment room fit for a star. Fashionistas Yvette and Sonya had the wind knocked out of their sails by Laurence’s cringe worthy critique last week, and are struggling to find their groove right from the get go.
The fourth week kicks the competition up a notch, with the challenge brief delivering a double whammy to the contestants. Not only must they embody the style of an iconic artist into the hub of their home, their living rooms, they have to do the entire design paired up with another team? Is this tethering of teams going to help or a hinder them when every decision counts?
This week’s challenge is to create the heart of the home: a fantastic family room.
