Wiederstrebend willigt Dachs ein, die Wühlmäuse und die Feldmäuse zurückzulassen und mit den übrigen Tieren die Reise fortzusetzen. Doch als ein Raubvogel die Feldmausbabys tötet, beschließen die erschütterten Eltern und die Wühlmäuse, sich der Gruppe wieder anzuschließen. Inzwischen ist Fuchs flussabwärts getrieben und hat Zuflucht hinter einem Supermarkt gefunden. Nach einer Fahrt auf einem Lastwagen zieht er querfeldein und trifft auf Füchsin.
After finding himself on a log floating downstream Fox jumped aboard a boat that ended up in a town. As he sees humans surrounding him he jumps out and escapes into the town. Frightened by the bustle of the town in daylight he looks for somewhere to hide. He meets a cat called Tom and hunts rats for him in return for shelter. However when he finds a box to sleep in it is lifted by a truck, which heads out of the town, so Fox takes his chance and escpapes into a nearby field. Here he is greeted by a friendly Horse who warns him about the hunt in this area. Finding himself an empty den he goes inside for a rest. But soon he is woken by the movement of another fox, a Vixen. Meanwhile, back with the other animals, the fieldmice's new born babies have been eaten by a butcher bird.
Dopo lunghe discussioni i Topolini e le Arvicole decidono di separarsi dal gruppo per stabilirsi nelle campagne circostanti. Ma appena detto addio ai loro amici, si ritrovano alla mercé di una sanguinaria Averla che uccide tutti i piccoli dei Topolini. Non resta loro che riaggregarsi alla comitiva, la cui guida, Rospo, ha ritrovato il senso dell’orientamento. Volpe, intanto, è ancora vivo e si risveglia su una chiatta abbandonata, che, percorrendo il fiume, è arrivata in una città. Scappa e si rifugia in un cantiere dove stringe un patto d’alleanza con un gatto. A bordo di un camion esce fuori dalla città e infine incontra nel bosco vicino un’affascinante volpe femmina che lo invita a farle compagnia.
