Eddie ist voll in seinem Element: Als Ermittler in einem Mordfall zeigt er seine Talente als ehemaliger Polizist. Ken Hopkins, der Sam und Eddie engagiert hat, um seine verschwundene Frau zu suchen, wird tot aufgefunden. Von seiner Frau fehlt immer noch jede Spur. Sie scheint jedoch in eine seltsame Mordserie verwickelt zu ein. Das Ermittler-Duo versucht alles, um den Psychokiller zu stellen. Dabei werden Eddies alte Wunden aufgerissen.

Called to a murder scene in the middle of the night, Sam and Eddie are shocked to find that the man who had just hired them to find his missing wife is the most recent victim of a serial killer. Knowing that their client’s case must be related to his murder, Sam and Eddie race to uncover the twisted motives behind the killings with the desperate hope of finding his still-missing wife alive, putting the pair directly in the serial killer’s crosshairs. Meanwhile, the investigation stirs up old wounds for Eddie surrounding his contentious departure from the LAPD.

Appelés sur une scène de crime, Sam et Eddie se retrouvent face au cadavre d'un homme qui avait fait appel à eux pour enquêter sur la disparition de sa femme. L'homme est la première victime d'un tueur en série. Sam et Eddie gardent l'espoir de retrouver la disparue vivante.

Il caso che seguono Eddie e Sam incrocia un'indagine condotta dalla polizia su una serie di omicidi perpetrati dalla stessa persona. Il cliente dei detective è infatti una delle vittime, ma i due intendono comunque continuare la ricerca della moglie, motivo per cui l'uomo li aveva ingaggiati. La presenza di Eddie sulla scena del crimine risveglia però alcuni vecchi rancori legati al suo passato nel dipartimento di polizia.
