Kato opens up this episode of “Tailgating with Kato,” with a hilarious monologue on psychics and being awful at sport predictions. He talks about traveling to San Jose and a girl he met at the airport. Kato plays another memorable National Anthem, and he introduces his first guest the talented actor Joe Pantoliano. They talk about his nose, and his book. Joe Pantoliano opens up about having everything but still feeling something was missing, and he also talks about mental illnesses. Joe talks about his family, and the how he grew up around a lot of family members with mental illnesses. He also talks about his own mental illness problems. Kato plays a clip when they went to Joe Pantoliano’s signing of his latest book “Asylum.” Joe Pantoliano talks to Kato about his own depression, and also about the suicide rates on the American GI’s. He talks about the documentary he made titled, “No Kidding, Me Too,” to confront the stigma of mental illnesses in society and to try to educate the public about them. A caller asks Joe about his role in the “Sopranos,” and also asked him if acting was his management tool to his mental disease. Joe Pantoliano talks about how suicide rates have risen, and how people are really cruel, especially to people who suffer from mental diseases. Joe talks about how Michael Jackson was diagnosed with schizophrenia, but unfortunately the family swept it under the rug. Joe’s mission is trying to get people to understand the stigma of these diseases. Joe Pantoliano talks about being on the “Sopranos,” and how much he really enjoyed being on the show.
