A major landslide occurred 4 miles east of Oso, Washington on March 22, 2014. Mud and debris covering an area of approximately 1 square mile engulfed an unincorporated neighborhood known as "Steelhead Haven". Forty-three people were killed and 49 homes and other structures destroyed.
