Einige Monate nach den dramatischen Ereignissen in Akihabara werden Okabe und die übrigen Labormitglieder in die USA eingeladen. Kaum am Flughafen in Los Angeles angekommen, gerät Okabe erneut in eine brenzlige Situation, die die Welt ins Chaos zu stürzen droht.
The story is set a few months after the last scene of the television series. On a calm day in Akihabara, Okabe and the other laboratory members are invited by Faris go to America. Mayuri and the rest are planning to reunite with Kurisu, who had come back to an American laboratory. A few days later, Okabe's mad scientist persona Hououin Kyouma arrives alone at the airport in Los Angeles, where he may be taking the first step to leading the world into chaos.

Okabe camina solo por una carretera en medio del desierto mientras habla consigo mismo en el teléfono. En un flashback, Okabe, Daru, Mayuri y Ruka son invitados por Feyris a ir a Los Ángeles, dónde ella participará en una competición de Rai-Net. En el aeropuerto, se reúnen con Kurisu. Debido a que la conducta de científico loco de Okabe canceló las reservas de hotel hechas por Feyris, el grupo se aloja en un motel. Esa noche, Kurisu habla con Okabe de los sueños que ha tenido de las otras lineas del mundo. Tras presenciar la competición en la que participa Feyris, Okabe ve a una chica muy parecida a Suzuha y la sigue. Tienen una conversación en un bar de carretera donde ella le cuenta que un adivino le ha dicho que tendrá un hijo dentro de siete años. Después de que la chica se vaya, Okabe se da cuanta de que su teléfono está sin batería y no tiene coche, por lo que tendrá que hacer el viaje de vuelta a la ciudad a pie.
