พุทธิ นักโบราณคดีหนุ่มและคอลัมนิสต์ของนิตยสาร "ธาร" กำลังค้นหาสร้อยแสงจันทร์จากเมืองบังบด เมลานี แฟนสาวของพุทธิและพ่อของเธอ, เมษ, ช่วยสืบหาตัว ดร.เมี่ยง ซึ่งเคยขโมยสร้อยแสงจันทร์ร่วมกับบุญทา แต่พุทธิพบว่า ดร.เมี่ยงกลายเป็นคนบ้าในโรงพยาบาล และให้เทวรูปนกที่เป็นกุญแจสำคัญให้พุทธิ เข้าสู่วิหารปักษาจำลอง เมื่อออกจากโรงพยาบาล พุทธิเริ่มเห็นภาพแปลกๆ เหมือนย้อนกลับไปในอดีต
