Doctor Johan Steen has come to Saltö in the Stockholm archipelago to take over a medical practice after his father-in-law Axel Holtman. He probably retired mainly so that his daughter Eva could take over, but she did not follow but stayed in Africa. Johan's daughter Wilma accompanied him, and she has difficulty both with the loss of her mother and finding new friends.

Doktor Johan Steen har kommit till Saltö i Stockholms skärgård för att ta över en läkarpraktik efter sin svärfar Axel Holtman. Denne gick väl främst i pension för att hans dotter Eva skulle kunna ta över men hon följde inte med utan stannade i Afrika. Johans dotter Wilma följde med honom, och hon har svårt både med saknaden efter mamma och att hitta nya kamrater.
