Whether you’re a rink rat or just lacing up, this is one for the books.
I was so excited to sit down with @Dirtydeborahharry and it resulted in one of the most engaging guests yet! Deborah shares her journey from a young skater to a prominent figure in roller derby and skating education. She discusses the origins of her unique name, her family's deep-rooted connection to skating, and her passion for teaching others. The conversation highlights the empowering nature of roller derby, the importance of community, and her transition to sharing her knowledge through YouTube. Deborah's infectious enthusiasm and dedication to skating shine through as she reflects on her experiences and the impact of skating on her life and the lives of others. After so much contribution to skating, it felt impossible to cover everything but we got into Dirty School Of Skate, her journey of embracing her family's legacy in skating, the transformative power of roller skating, and the importance of authenticity in social media.
This week, we roll into an unforgettable conversation with Dusty Haddock, better known in the skate world as Tudor—an original member of the legendary 850 crew from the Florida Panhandle. From his earliest skate memories to a lifetime of rolling, Dusty brings the stories, the history, and a whole lot of laughs. We talked old-school flavor, classic rink memories, and the pure joy of just skating for the love of it. It’s the kind of episode that reminds you why we all fell in love with wheels in the first place. One of our funniest and most feel-good conversations yet! A must-listen for anyone who rolls, remembers, or just loves the culture.
This is a continuation of our conversation from Episode 21 with Nathan Edwards. I’m back and excited to dig into his latest moves: why he shifted to manufacturing laser plates on a per-request basis, how his collaboration with Ron Murray Customs is shaping cushions, trucks, and everything in between, and what’s driving the evolution of his skate craftsmanship. Nathan is one of those people I always look forward to seeing at any event — great to talk to, even better to skate with — and this conversation was no exception. Enjoy.

This week, I had the honor of sitting down with one of the most respected names in the skate world: Ron Murray. Known globally for his high-quality custom skate cushions and a commitment to unmatched customer service, Ron has been a trusted resource for skaters for years. In our conversation, we dive deep into not just his personal skating journey, but also the spark that led him to launch his custom business, a venture that has changed the way countless skaters think about their gear. While many skaters obsess over plates, trucks, or wheels, Ron reminds us that cushions, too often overlooked, can make all the difference in performance and feel. We also talk about his newest partnerships, how he continues to push the boundaries of skate innovation, and his latest venture into custom outdoor wheels, bringing the same precision and passion to skaters hitting the pavement. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or just starting out, this episode is packed with insights you won’t want to miss.
In this episode of the SK8LIKEYOU Podcast, I sit down with Renee Love, better known as Nae Nae Love, the founder of the Unbothered On-8’s Sk8 Group. Renee’s mission has always been to create a safe and positive environment for skaters—both inside and outside of the rink. From sponsoring kids to organizing fundraisers, community projects, and charity events, she is all-in when it comes to giving back. Our conversation goes deeper than just skating as a pastime. We talk about the role of skating in mental health, overcoming personal challenges, and how we can celebrate our victories the best way we know how… on 8 wheels. Renee’s passion, commitment, and authenticity shine through, making this a conversation you won’t want to miss.
Melanie Swadley aka MelanieATL, a lifelong skater in the ATL. Melanie has skated at every level of competition, but these days she embraces the rink simply for herself and as a gift she can pass on to her kids. After stepping away for a while, Melanie recently returned to skating, and her focus is all about fun: learning new styles, pushing herself in fresh ways, and skating purely for the joy of it - not trophies. What makes this episode so special (and hilarious) is that unlike so many of my guests, Melanie had no idea who I was before we hit record. Honestly, I loved it. Neither of us knew much about the other, and that made for one of the most genuine, funny, and authentic conversations I’ve had yet. From her Atlanta skating roots, to her honest perspective on competing, to her journey back to the floor in a social-media-heavy skate world—this conversation is full of laughs, realness, and that ATL skating spirit. Melanie is proof that once skating is in you, it never leaves.
