Over the course of the decade, dark romance fiction has become synonymous with controversial titles such as Haunting Adeline. But the genre goes further than that. The bones of dark romance have existed for centuries, in gothic literature, in bodice rippers, and in fanfiction. The dangerous lover narrative is insidious. It has infiltrated most of our pop culture, especially general romance media. So, with this in mind, what do we do about dark romance?
