The curmudgeonly northern comedian Les Dawson features in the popular stand-up and sketch show. The world-weary stage persona of Les Dawson was starkly contrasted on the show by dancing girls, glitzy sets, and the Syd Lawrence orchestra. Fellow comedian Roy Barraclough joins Les in their long-running, pantomime dame-style housewives sketch, Cissy and Ada, while John Cleese also makes an appearance.
