Sabin Lomac, lobster roll expert, has a mission, searching out the country’s most decadent and delicious eats by the seaside. Sabin heads to Mobile Bay and The Old 27 Grill in Fairhope, Alabama. The Holy Cow Burger with Au Poive sauce is a dish so creamy that it appears owner Billy Stitt has managed as he says, “to put the milk back in the cow.” But don’t leave before having Bill-E’s Chocolate Belly, a mixture of chocolate brownie and house-made smoked pork belly dripped in a brown sugar-bourbon glaze. Next, it’s off one of the only beachside restaurants in Key West, Florida. Salute on the Beach is the go to for an unreal Yellowtail Snapper Alfredo with fish caught 400 yards from the restaurant and a Key West original, Grouper Cakes. Next Sabin’s off to Del Mar State Beach, California and the Tackle Box for a west coast twist on Clam Chowder w/ Chicharones. The addition of puffed pork skin to chowder is nothing short of genius. But even more surprising is a Cali-Cheesesteak with a soubise and cheese sauce that has Sabin calling Philadelphia and asking what just happened? And finally in Wynewood, Florida, Sabin checks out Caja Caliente a Cuban oasis that serves up Vaca Frita Tacos and a Lechon Pulled Pork Sandwich that has been handed down for generations complete with a fried egg on top for an extra messy and decadent seaside experience.
