Lenin Peak. At 7,134m, or 23,406ft tall, it is the most climbed mountain on Earth that is over 7 km tall. And it’s easy to see why just by looking at it. It looks a fair bit wider than it is tall, giving it a much gentler slope and making it a much less technical climb than most mountains of its size. It’s even developed a reputation for being a relatively safe mountain, but that’s not quite the whole story. In a cruel twist of irony, despite this reputation, it’s also the site of some of the most harrowing expeditions to ever have occurred, including the single deadliest mountain expedition in recorded history. These are those incidents, and as always, viewer discretion is advised.
