Uesugi Kagekatsu [Kenichi Endo], Ukita Hideie [Kazuya Takahashi] and other prominent daimyos are now in charge of running the Toyotomi government. Ieyasu [Seiyo Uchino] and Mitsunari [Koji Yamamoto] are busy throwing parties in a desperate effort to lure more daimyos to their respective sides. Kato Kiyomasa [Hirofumi Arai] and Date Masamune [Tomoharu Hasegawa] lean toward the Tokugawas and Mitsunari finds himself gradually losing ground. Mitsunari makes a move, ignoring objections from Nobushige [Masato Sakai] and Otani Yoshitsugu [Ainosuke Kataoka].
上杉景勝(遠藤憲一)、宇喜多秀家(高橋和也)など有力大名たちによる政権運営が始まる。家康(内野聖陽)と三成(山本耕史)は、お互いに宴(うたげ)を開いては、自分の陣営の大名を増やそうと躍起になる。加藤清正(新井浩文)や伊達政宗(長谷川朝晴)も徳川に傾き、次第に三成の形勢は不利に。信繁(堺雅人)や大谷吉継(片岡愛之助)がいさめるのも聞かず、三成はある行動を起こす。
