巨人軍の未来のため、野性味溢れるサムライ魂を持った選手を求めていた川上監督は高知・土佐嵐高校の番場蛮の存在を知る。しかし巨人に敵意を抱いていた蛮はドラフト会議で巨人軍に1位指名されるもそれを拒否、スカウトマンや周囲の説得によりやむなく入団を決意するが……。傍若無人な振る舞いで選手たちの反感を買う蛮だったが、一度入団した以上はそこを死に場所とするサムライの心で猛特訓の末に様々な新魔球を会得、巨人を優勝へと導く名選手へと成長していく。
