When numerous people are committing suicide, including a well-known police forensics scientist, Ryoko and Izumida investigate it and find out that a university professor and a new species of ultrasound crickets are responsible for the mysterious suicides with some of them still alive after the professor's death by a crashing truck.

「自殺団地」に関するメールが、刑事部参事官付室に寄せられた。そこには音波虫なるものが事件を引き起こしているとある。そこで、自殺団地から飛び降りた緑川の勤務先の多摩音響研究所で事件の情報収集を行うと…。
