Here lies the island Malapascua and only here you can find one of the rarest animals in the world: the thresher shark. But the entire ecosystem of the island is in danger. The island's 5,000 inhabitants live mainly from tourism and fishing. Both are threatening to take the upper hand. The consequence: a strong pollution of the beaches and the waters by plastic waste, which the tourists throw into the sea, but which is also washed up here from all over the world. And an almost unbelievably large number of amateur divers who destroy the reefs through carelessness. The German Julian Engel has made it his business to preserve the marine fauna of Malapascua, especially the living conditions of the thresher shark. But in order to make the world aware of this particularly rare animal, he needs pictures of the thresher shark. And only Robert Marc Lehmann can bring him these pictures. Robert has to pull out all the stops to get this rare animal in front of his camera. Because failure is not an option.
