This particular vintage of Christmas spirit is brought to you by, naturally, The Phone Company. That’s right, Ma Bell’s monopoly. They’re the only game in town if you want to call your loved ones during the holidays, so you better sit down and watch the film they made you! It’s a tale as old as tinsel: a man staying up too late on Christmas Eve while his children slumber witnesses the arrival of the jolly fat man himself, flying through the air and landing on the roof and whatnot. The twist: they’re all marionettes. The double twist: all these marionettes look drunk. Not the people operating the marionettes, mind you, although that’s also quite possible. The marionettes themselves seem drunk, scared, and overwhelmed, and what says Spirit of Christmas more than that?
